So I was looking at my 29gal thinking I want to redo it. Im thinking of takeing a few of my fish to a lfs because I have to many random fish that I got in my less experienced days. Most need schools and a couple just get way to big(like my pleco, bala and clown loach if anyone wants them id get rid of them cheap) Anyway i have 4 regular mollies, 2 balloon mollies, 2 platy, a pictus cat and a dwarf gourami oh and a few molly fry that just need to be netted out. Does this sound overstocked? I also forgot about my clown loach that is there just to clean out a few snails then to the lfs.

Sounds good to me, except for the pictus, they can get up to 6" and require a minumum of a 40g at full size.

Are you saying you still have the pleco and bala?

I'd move the clown loach, pleco, bala, and pictus.

I do still have the pleco and bala they are in my 55gal but they will be leaving as soon as I can find them a home then they pictus will go to the 55gal. The loach is only in there for a couple days to remove some snails (which he is doing a great job) then hes going to the lfs. I do love my blood parrot she is one of my favorites next to my severum they have alot of personality. and heres pics of my 30gal and my BP

Pictus cats are schoolers and prefer company of their own kind. I think a school of pictus would be too much for a 55 though.

I read on a website that pictus cats got up too 6" and 6 was a required school for them to be comfortable, I don't know if this site is totally correct, but I don't think 6 6" are gonna fit in that 55g...

I love mine, too. She gets very fat just prior to spawning, as you can see.

Yeah, its fine besides the pictus which needs a group and needs at least a 75

The pictus cat grows to about 5 inches, I think. I really don't know why they need friends with them, honestly. I have featherfins and they are constantly chasing each other so not sure the benefit of having more than one.

To further get myself in a jam here, (LOL) I have 5 loaches in my 55 gallon. I've had them 2 years and they are still less than 5 inches and doing very well. Someday the loaches will be too large for this tank, I'm sure, but I am not seeing them turning into monsters anytime soon.

I don't think your 29 is overstocked as long as your have good filtration. I have 20 black skirts and 15 neons in mine and plan on more neons.

Where I think you will have a problem is the severum, blood parrots and silver dollars in the 55 gallon, tho. All get pretty large.

I hopefully can get a bigger tank befor that becomes a problem and thats why im getting rid of the pleco and bala and the filtration is one of my concerns Im thinking it is crapping out I had a couple random deaths so I did a parameter check and a lil ammonia showed up but I think I that fixed witha w/c im going to clean my filter real good tomarrow and do another waterchange. Oh and the BP's are one of the greatest fish I have to thank Hobbs for helping me on that. Thanks for all the help guys I dont have to worry as much now.

If you can get a 125 to 150 tank would be fine, and you could keep your pleco, because in my eyes he is not going to get a good home. But you have to get rid of the bala, pretty much no one can house tehm (blah blah blah yes i know you have heard it before) but you are hurting it keeping it in your tank...

Yeah I know I just dont know what to do with him. and it could be a while on the bigger tank so I dont want to keep the pleco too long.

Have you put up a add on CL about them being free... Make sure you ask for a picture of the tank before you give them away..

You might want to think of some yo-yo loaches for a long term snail solution if you do not plan on keeping the Clown for a year or so.

Yo-yo loaches are a great idea. I have 4 of them in a 40 long and they do very well.

I may have to look into that yo-yo's are really cool looking. I dont really mind snails there are just a few to many I was thinning them out more than elimateing them. lol Thanks tho IM still wanting some GBR's but I may just have to get another tank lol I dont think they will fit anywhere now.

If you could get a bigger tank you could move your 30 gallon tank mates into the 55 and then add soem GBR.. Just a thought if you get a bigger tank..

I'm not going to be of any help here lol. Just wanted to say you have good taste. I have the same two ornaments you have, the rock cave and the tree stump. The fish like them alot.
