my frontosas have finally matured and spawned for the first time monday night.
I'll probably strip the female in about 14 days. Is this a good timeline? I strip my eartheaters at 14 days and it seems to work perfectly with them.
Here is a pic of the female holding eggs, and the big daddy...
...you can't see the eggs in the photo, but they're there...

Are you going to keep the fry?
Won't the earth eaters get the eggs?

I have a 20 gallon fry tank with about 40 earth eaters in it now, so the frontosa fry can go in there. I will strip her of the fry at 14 days, so none should be eaten as long as she doesn't spit them out sooner.
Here's a pic of the fry tank with baby earth eaters...

Are you selling them or have you had any thoughts about it yet?
Great looking fry! I have wanted some for quite some time now.

I think they most resemble kigomas... not positive though.

You are spot on with your id, they are indeed Kigomas Distinguished by their seven stripes, I think there are other species that resemble Kigomas but
they have a lot more yellow on them and less blue, beautiful fronts.

I would wait a little longer to strip them. Maybe 21 days since the eggs take a little longer to hatch.
Personally I always prefer to let them carry and release the fry themselves but I am not going to argue for or against stripping.

If I don't strip them, the fry will be fish food... we'll see what happens... I'll keep my eye on the female and maybe wait close to the 21 day mark.
