Hey everyone! Many of you, ok probably all of you, don't know this but I'm going to college to study sequential art, which covers the creation of comic books, storyboards, and concept art. For a assignment I have to start an online comic and I thought it would be a fun idea to do one about fish keeping. I was thinking of updating it 2-3 times a week with one of the days being a sort of "how to" on various topics (ex: fishless cycling, picking the right fish, decorating a tank, etc).

My idea behind this was to make a comic about something i love and also help newcomers to the fish world along the way. A lot of times people get put off by reading long articles with just words; so I thought I would try to make it entertaining and educational at the same time. The only problem with this is, of course, that I don't necessarily have the experience and sage advice that all of you have. So here comes the question in all of this

Would you guys mind if I used some of your stories or advice in fishkeeping? If so, you can post on here or send me a pm that you're ok with the idea. If you want me to post your name, screen name or anything else for credit, tell me that as well. You can also post a story in here if you want.

If I use your story I will send you a pm beforehand and another one when I finish it so you can see it.

Thanks a lot in advance everyone!

I plan to put the comic on it's own site and in my about section I plan to thank everyone who has helped me with stories.

I don't think you need permission to re-tell advice you've heard... For example about cycling, who has copyright on that?

Of course if there is a very specific story about something that happened then it's nice to ask them if it's ok to retell the story, but for general advice then there is no need.

i meant specific stories when i was asking for permission, but yea I can see how that is confusing. I tend not to write stuff as well as i think

Sounds like a great idea. I'm sure lots of funny things have happened to fish keepers. A video of me finding my pleco on the floor would have been hilarious (it wasn't dead but I thought it was & when I picked it up and it let out a squeek or some kinda sound, I almost threw it...I'm sure the expression on my face was priceless lol). Let us know where you post your strip so we can have a laugh and learn too.

Thanks for all the thumbs up so far guys! I plan to get the site up about mid January or early February, although I'll be working on the strips here really soon. I'm going to try to get several comic made before the actual launch of the site in case I get sick or have a lot of homework that would prevent me from working on a strip. I'll post the first one one here as soon as I finish it.
