It's not sounding normal to me. Can you post your water parameters (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate) and let us know who else may live in the tank and anything done recently before the behaviour like do a water change, clean your filter, etc.?

[COLOR="Blu[/COLOR](zfish) (zfish) OH no healthy barbs will school tightly and swim very quick in nice fast motion. no hanging upside down nope. They will go into a frenzy at feeding time as well. Remember they are nippers. Feeding habits will tell you how healthy these barbs are. OH their colour as well. Very high in contrast.

OK. That definately does not sound normal.

How big is the tank?
Water Parametres? (Have you got a test kit?)
How long have you had them?
Is the tank cycled?
Have you done anything new recently?

Have a look through these and see if your fish hve any of the symptoms!

Welcome to the Amazing AC!:19:
When was your last water change? How much and how often are they done?
When did you get your tank and was it cycled before you got your fish?
What is the temp of the tank?Green barbs like cooler water than most tropical fish!
Here is more info! Please answer what questions you can so we can help!
There is also the free E-book on the left that every tank owner should read periodically!http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/barbs/greenbarb.php

Sounds like you have overfed them on flake. Barbs fed on flake, which is prodominantly on the surface, take in air as well. this air gets trapped inside the fish and it is constantly trying to swim down to stay underwater.
If they are nose down and trying to swim down constantly downward then boil some frozen peas, shell them and thrown them in the tank. maybe 1 pea per fish, make sure they all get at least a half of a pea. They will soon poop and all will be well.

when feeding barbs flake, hold it in your fingers and submerge it to make sure it dosnt float.
