i think i am about to answer my own question , but here go,s in the last week or so i am finding that tank is been taken over by small little snails
(not off spring from my applesnails as i get rid of egg cases). is it just the case i am over feeding,? have add new plants & think they came in with them .
now how do i got rid of them without any harm coming to applesnails (cem. meth.) or do i get a fish that will eat them & after they have eaten snails what would i then have to feed them on . sue

It does sound like you are over feeding. IME apple snails can out eat pond snails in the same tank to the point where the pond snails will almost stop breeding in most cases.

Unfortunately any fish that will eat the pond snails will also probably harass the apple snails, but they may be too big of a meal for assassin snails, even though assassins have been known to try to "gang up" on stuff. Ask around i dont own any atm.

I don't think snails do meth...but if they did it would surely kill them eventually...haha that wasn't helpful at all!
But, seriously, I have a freshwater puffer that eats them, but I guess it depends on what kind of snail...what do they look like?
Also you can trap them I've heard by putting a slice of cucumber in the tank and removing it after while one theyve attached themselves, I think theres a thread about it in the invertabrate section. Also you could get assassin snails that eat other faster reproducing varieties.

Ahhhh, the delights of a snail infestation. One thing you can do is remove the little ones by securing a cucumber or slice of carrot, etc. to the bottom of the tank. Turn out the lights. In about an hour or so they will have converged onto the vegetable and you can dispose of them. Do that enough and you'll get them under control.

Very good advice, also pick out every one you see. Here is a trap that is easy to make as well just make sure it is pushed into the gravel!

Get rid of every one of them that you see or you will have hundreds in know time.
Also cut back on how much you feed.
Good Luck Sue!
