I was at an agricultural show last week and these little
Siberian Huskies were for sale, cute or what?
The kids were going mad looking to buy them but at
£400 a pup they were a bit expensive for my budget.
maybe if I win the lotto.

I was given a Malamute years ago (blue eyes and bigger) and he was just an awful dog. He'd been chained all this life and never taught dog manners and when I got him he was over 100 pounds and a real handful.

I see these dogs sometimes in FL and it drives me nuts. They are cold weather dogs and the heat is horrible for them.....especially when it's in the 90's for days and days. They sure are purdy.

How did he turn out for you? i'm betting you did a good job with him.

I agree a warm environment is not the best place to keep them,
I also hear they need a huge exercise regime?

And yes angelcakes, £800 is a lot of money for a dog. extreme is a good word lol

Dang those are cute! I love huskies, my aunt used to breed them as show dogs and sell them for $1,200 or more a piece. She litterally had a pack of them, alpha male and all it was like watching a pack of wolves. Are they a common dog in your neck of the woods?

I think Malamutes are beautiful beasts! and if I ever get some land I want to get a couple, but they can be really hard to train, but I guess they're pretty close to a wild wolf.

Wow that was a good price she was fetching for them,
They are not very common in these parts but I can see them
catching on, they are beautiful dogs for sure.

Aww!!! So cute!! :41: I had a Chocolate and White Sib years ago. He was a great dog but a handful like any Sib. Definatally a breed you don't want to go into if you don't know much about them. They'll destroy your house and yard if they aren't kept happy (Mental AND physical stimulation each day) AND they're escape artist. They'll climb fences, dig under them, can learn to open doors on their own, ect. Very very intelligent dogs.

I'd love to have another but it'd be a long time before I'd have the space and time for them, my German Shepherd keeps me busy already.

One thing about the price though, just because it's cheap to buy, doesn't mean the price will be cheap later on. They probably came from a backyard breeder which means they probably don't have health tested (Hips, eyes, thyroid, ect checked and certified) parents, grandparents, ect. You'd be better off adopting from a shelter and saving a life.

Hi BnT,
I have since researched them and there's no way I would have time
to look after one properly, these particular dogs actually had all the relevant
documentation and shot record etc, but you're right you need to be really careful when buying animals.
Like you said, beautiful intelligent dogs, but not for me.
Welcome to the forum btw.

I own a husky and he sure is a handful. Beautiful dog and very good 95% of the time, but oh-boy do they have personalities on them. If he's upset or angry he lets me know usually by lifting his leg and peeing on various things in the house, lol. I love him though, he lives with my parents now as I couldn't take him to my condo when i moved in. After living with my parents and being used to their huge yard I just couldn't see him on a leash everytime he had to go out. They also like to take off and explore the neighborhood, mine can hop my parents 6 foot fence with ease. Usually he does his tour and comes back within a few hours, little bugger, lol.
