I bought tank #5.
$107.00
20 gallon tank
Hood with light
9 pounds of gravel
20-40 gallon 210GPH Whisper Filter( they gave me a 10-20 gallon 140GPH filter, but I paied $7.00 extra for a bigger filter.)
100 watt Heater
Marina Themometer
clorinie drops
4 small pouches of Cycle
I plan on putting a Crayfish in it.
My question is do you think 9 pounds is enough for a 20 Gallon long?

you want about 2 to 3 inches of gravel. In my 55g i put 75 pounds of gravel and that gave me a little over 2 inches.

I may be wrong but I think that 1lb gravel per gallon is pretty normal.

in a non-planted tank, it really is a matter of preference on how much substrate you have.

Oh, I am soooo bookmarking this link. It would be a nice addition to a newbie section so people just setting up would know how much substrate to get.
Awesome link!

If you plan on having live plants, you'll need from 2-4 inches of small gravel for the plants to develop a good root system. If not, you can keep the bottom bare if you want. 1-2 inches should be fine if you're just using plastic plants and don't want a bare bottom.
