I knew that one would come. lol We're working on it.
Hi,
You have two Snake Skin Gouramis. Well IMO I would get rid of them. These fish need a bigger tank 75 gallons or bigger.
Other wise with the the Gouramis removed, I would just up the schools of fish you have in your 50 gallon.

I'm definitly keeping them, mainly cause I love gouramis. Plus I've read other places that say 30, 35, and 40 is the minimum tank size, so 50 shouldn't kill them.

No a 50 gallon tank is to small for a Snake Skinn Gourami.
Here are some links.

Note this one dose not say the size of tank to keep it in. But that dose not matter. But I dose say never keep adult fish with small fish. Why you might ask. Well these fish eat other fish that will fit in their mouth. So the tetras will at some time become a snack.
Here are my reasons.
My reasons are very simple. One you are keeping a fish that will become 8 inches long. This is quite a large powerful fish. Not to mention quite heavy. At this size it will way a couple of pounds. Not only is the size of importance but tank mates. If you want to keep anything with them, they must be big enough to not get hurt or eaten. So Pear Gouramis, and fish like that are great choices.
But the main thing you have to take into consideration for these fish is they need room to swim around in. That way they will not get stunted and live a shorter harder life in misery. Now you might think the fish only gets to 8 inches long. That is not to long. But in a tank that could be around 36 inches ling it only gives the fish the fish 3.5 lengths of it's body to swim. So if it want to move from one end of the tank to another it can't move very far. So it will feel cramped. Plus you have two. Are you sure about their sex. If you have males more than likely you will have territory issues, which will lead to trouble.
The next thing is that these fish need width and hight as well. these fish need a about 1 inch of open air on top of the water to breath from, because they are Labyrinth Fish. And this air must be the same temp as the water around 78'f. Other wise they will catch a cold. Which can cause disease in with your fish.
Now as a summery.
1. Your tank is to small for a mature pair of Snake Skin Gouramies. They need a bigger tank. Preferably one 4+ ft long.
2 You need to know their sex.
3. You need to get rid of the other fish, before they become snakes.
4 You will have to take into consideration their full size before they get any bigger. And work out what to do. As I have suggested remove them or get a bigger tank.

Now to finish of my post.
Most sites say small tank for large fish to make people happy, or to make sale, or they misunderstand the fish. So please take care and consideration about fish and fish tank size. It all depends on the size of the fish, and the activity level of the fish.

The tank is a 4ft long tank. I'm not 100% but, I think they're males. The only reason I'm questioning this is because they stay together and never bother each other. And from what I've read, they're the most peaceful of all the gouramis. Plus they tend to stay away from the other fish and mind their own business.

Okay well 4 feet is better. But more volume is needed. Plus hight, and more so width.
Keep a good eye on them.
Yes these fish are very peaceful. But it dose not stop them eating small fish.

if the tanks 4 feet long its probably a 55, but i do have to agree that as the gouramis grow your tetras will be snacks, i would get them a bigger tank or a 55 just for them and then boost the schools of tetras, in a 55 you could have 15 or so of each

I know for a fact that its a 50g. Cause we have a 55g right above it and its slightly skinnier than the 55g. If they do end up having some snacks we'll have to move them pronto. Also would they be able to live with an oscar at their full size? I'm thinking no, but the oscar is pretty old and just lies around most of the time, except for feeding time.

I would not keep them with a Oscar. But you have a Oscar in a 55 right?
These fish need a tank 100 gallons in size.
