I have a small (2cm) lamp. brichardi in a 6g high tank. what tankmates would work? it seems to be a sissy fish, and has his territory staked out. I heard that you cannot keep victorians or malawis with them, but larger tanganykins (bad spelling) may work. what would work for the 6g high? i would prefer a common fish thats easily found.:4:

he seems to hang out near the bottom all the time, so how about 4 cardinal tetras, or something else that hangs out near the top:help:

i wouldn't recommend keeping an african cichlid in a 6 gallon tank. he's going to get to be about 5-6 inches max when full grown. also he has totally different water parameter needs than south american fish such as cardinal tetras. i would get a larger tank and research as much as possible about the cichlid you have.

Your fish needs to be in a larger tank with a pH of about 9.0 for Lake Tanganyika, and very hard water. A cardinal tetra needs about 6.5 and very soft water. Try getting a tank big enough to have a whole group of the species you have now.

its really just a quarantine tank for now. hell probably go onto a 33g by next week.

you still can't put him in with "standard" community fish. he has special needs

What do you keep the pH at? Do you add any cichlid lake salt?
