View Full Version : Long finned Rosy Barbs?

I wasn't keen on long finned fish untill I came across the
long finned rosy barb and aquired some for my community tank

Do you folks prefer the long finned or the regular Rosy Barb?

I prefer the normal finned fish in all species. I think the long fins look very unnatural. Personal opinion.

I agree. I can appreciate why people like the flowy fins, but to me, i just prefer the sleeker look. It looks more natural and a lot of long finned fish become targets for aggression.

Its a great pic though, as always. I need to send u my camera so we can see if its just my crappy skills or the crappy cam! lol

I'm mixed on it, depends on the specific fish.

I quite like that one!:19:

The to me I like just normal fish with normal fins.

But depending on the fish and it's tank I do like flowing fines. But IMO I thing the Rosy Barbs look best with normal fins.

But don't worry your fish are nice to watch.

Theanks for the feedback guys, The more I look at them the more
I think they look like a species of Gold Fish (Nothing wrong with Goldfish)
They are eye catching and graceful to watch when swimming but
I'm thinking I prefer the regular Rosy's as well.

Only if you have fin nipping fish in the same tank.

I have long finned Rosy Barbs too. I like them but I mixed mine in with regular finned Rosy Barbs. Currently my lady fish is beautifully dressed in her long fins and the males have short fins. I enjoy the variety. I just got some Glass Rosy Barbs. Have you seen those? They are yellow and red instead of Pink and Green. Still in quarantine though can't wait to see them all together! :goldfish: :fish:

I'm not keen on long finned fish but those look stunning.

Great pic Brookfish. :thumb:

Here are some photos of the Glass Barbs. As you can see rather than being pink like the Rosy Barb, also pictured, they are yellow in color. The only downside is they don't shimmer like the other barbs.

I attached a video also because my photos are blurry... those little barbs just won't stay still for a photo :ssmile:

I think they look great, and i chopped the heck out of the qoute i put from Wild Turkey, but i have to agree with him, and add for myself, they're total fin nip targets. A lot of fish you might not expect to do so can exhibit fin nipping behavior. If you can keep that under control, sweet! enjoy your beautiful long finned fish :19:

It must be nice to have a selection of fish to choose from.:22:
