 I always started and cycled my tank(s) with regular water + antichlorine, and thats it. now, I went to the LPS and was looking at the different chems you can add to your water for plants and fish, and I saw some kit that had packets of enzymes (spelling?). anyone know if this is something that would cause extra algae buildup? I have a small indoor pond, ATM there are no fish in it, but I would like to introduce 2 common plecos, and I want to induce algae growth. Any ideas?

Seriously, how did you get so much algae? I mean, I've had fishtanks my whole life, but NEVER had algae! and the weird thing is, most of the time the lights were on 16 hours a day!

I place the blame 100% on my stepfather.... I inherited the tank from him and he had it in an area that got plenty of direct sunlight during the day, he had problems with it and when he brought it to my house I didn't insist on starting over which is probably what I should have done, if it doesn't dissapate in the next few weeks I may make start a small tank to put my fish in and get some substrate cycling.. then I'll have to clean out the tank from top to bottom and get rid of any traces of algae... I've been fighting it for six weeks... thought I had it beat too....!!

Well the reason i *do* want a lot of algae, is I have a "small" (300l) indoor pond, and I want to make it as natural as possible for the pleco's i want to introduce into it. Ya know, one of those you just forget about, just clean the filters once every 2 weeks and water change every 2 months..
