Ok so i had one of those moments the other day, plugged in the wrong coord and ran one of my heaters dry accidentally.

The heater still works fine, but the rubber end cap and part of the holder is melted to the sun of a..... anyway, if i clean it with a razor is it salvageable? Or should i just throw er away? Like i said it still works. Its one of the 50watt topfin stealths. It must be pretty well designed since it must have been on for at least 24 hours and it seemed to have melted the rubber very slow and caused no mechanical damage to itself.

No idea. Are you sure the rubber cap where it melted won't cause the water to get into any of the wires?

Its just the rubber end cap that keep the glass end on the thermometer safe/protected if i cut it off, there should just be a glass end like an older thermometer.

If the glass is not cracked it is still good. You can also buy new holders and protectors.

Awesome, i'll have to call Topfin eventually and order some. Do you think a razor is the best method? Its really on there lol

Yeah maybe try and melt it off very carefully with a lighter.
