Is it safe to clip a turtles nails? If so what would the best way to go about it be?

because they are really long and everytime he is handled you get scratched. Is it uncomfortable for them to have long nails or is it just harmful to me. Also,sorry for adding in more questions, is it possible to keep a fish with them..one that would eat algea. Its extremely hard to control the algea by hand.

no fish imo, turtles will eat fish and turtles carry alot more disease.

I would say just wear gloves when you handle him, clipping the nails will probably stress him out
