I have been shopping for a bigger tank.
I have ben hitting Craigslist in my area quite a bit and have seen some ugly stuff.. (sellers tip if you want to sell it, clean it first !!) Iv'e had to turn them down because my wife would not allow me to put this ugly junk in "her" living room.
Today after work, I'm looking at a truvu 72"x18"x20" tank with oak stand and a light. It has some plants and what looks like an undergravel filter that I wont be using. It has the black back too! Man it is going to be a long day ;)

Thanks!
My wife sure doesn't ;)
If I don't like this one, I will keep looking. I'll quit when I have a 100+ gal tank for these fish I have.
The killer is, I just bought a very nice 48" light... now I the darn light won't even fit on the tank because of the opening locations. I may have to build or buy a canopy and hang my light in it. The light has the capacity to double it's current light output.
I have over 700 tied up in the 55.. I damn well knew this tank wasn't big enough and I was kidding myself.
My next tank will have black flourite sand and a black back, live plants and alot more money tied up into it.

Very nice tank! Bring a flashlight to shine on the glass. It makes any scratches stand out.It may help get the price down if they see you getting that picky, besides you will see what you are buying instead of discovering it later.
Good Luck,I hope its what you are looking for!

Looks nice. With craigslist, patience is really a virtue. You never know when a great deal is gonna come up, wait too long and you miss the deal, don't wait long enough and you're already stuck with a tank hehe. It's amazing at the huge price ranges, sometimes I see 55g with stands and everything for as low as $50, other times well in the several hundreds.

This one is in the several hundreds range.. but is still more than a 1000 off the new price tag.
Being clean enough for my wife to let me bring it in the house is worth a couple bucks to me ;)

I bought this tank last night. Well, I put a deposit on it. I get to pick it up Sunday. It is currently housing fish and the coolest fresh water lobster I have ever seen.

Nice tank, how much does it hold?

According to the calculator 112 gallons.
He says it's 72"x 18"x20". I went to see it and thats the longest 6 feet I've ever seen. I would have guessed 8' or 96".

Didn't you bring a tape measure?
Are you getting it?

No, I didn't bring a tape. I did take 4 shipping blankets and enough rope to tie everything in my little S10. I got so excited I brought my friend to hepl me carry it, but forgot my tpae measure.
I left the guy a deposit.100 bucks. I get to pick it up some time Sunday. Thats when the fun really begins.
I"ll have to re arrange my living room. I have to talk my wife into letting me re arrange the living room. I have to buy the rest of the black flourite sand, I only have 3 bags. I have to tear down my 55 and move my filter over.
This tank will be running two Fluval 404 :c2: I have to get my other daylight bulbs for my light and I need a canopy.. some place for my wife to put decorations and junk. Any funiturre this big has to hold knick knacks.
But for this tank.. it's worth it.

That sounds awesome!:c3:
Are you handy with wood at all.You could make a great canopy that she could place plants and other decor on.Thats all I did with a flourescent light fixture wired in the top.
I have a 200gal coming sometime in the near future.I will be building a stand and canopy I can place plants above and below.I get my tank and she gets to keep her plants!:19:

Make sure that when you're doing all that, you leave no mess for her to clean up...That scores points with the ladies!:19:

I wont be leaving a mess.
This wont happen in one weekend. Unfortunetly, it will take a couple of weeks to acomplish. I will have to negotiate the deal. My wife isn't thrilled about the bigger tank.
I've only been keeping fish for a couple of months (this time I had tanks for years), and now I'm getting into the big ol tank I always wanted.

Build a nice canopy so she can keep her plants.Thats what I do,I make the tank stand and canopy to match the rest of the furniture.:19:
It suits her needs as well that way.:c3:
