Well I posted an ad on craigslist looking for a stand for a 20g. Next day someone sent me an email asking if I wanted a 10g tank with an orange molly in it. So I thought sure why not, they lived only a few minutes away. I get there and load the tank into the truck. Then she says oh we have some other fish stuff you can have if you want. A 20g tall, some sort of weird hex tank I think 8g, one of those small 1.5g tetra tanks. And some other odds and ends to go with them. Apparently they had a goldfish their kid bought and each time it got big they kept replacing the tank with one size larger.

They had some chemicals and stuff in a box for the fish tanks, but it was sitting outside in the garage for who knows how long, didn't see any expiration dates or anything on them. Think they are still safe to use? It does get pretty hot here in georgia in summer.

Oh I'll be posting up a picture of the filter thing the small tetra tank came with, I think its missing a piece but not really sure. It has what appears to be a place to hook up an air hose, then runs down a plastic cylinder. That plastic cylinder goes into another plastic cylinder which goes down to something that looks like a gravel filter. Oh the plastic cylinder where a carbon cartridge goes in. Is it suppose to have some sort of foam filter anywhere?

Oh I did ask why they were getting rid of the fish stuff, the mother said she got tired of doing water changes. Told me a story about having to drag buckets of water around the house to do water changes. So I mentioned the python and how it worked. Said if she had known she would have kept the gold fish, but since it was given away already. I might as well take the empty tanks:p

Great find:19: , what you described sounds like half of an undergravel filter system, throw it in the trash. lol

I like the 8g hex, i like obscure little tanks like that for some reason.

Just got home, finally get a chance to go through the box of things and see what all is in there. The stress coat, dechlorinator bottles, ick away, salt, and some other things they had indoors, so that stuff is good. Why they had 3-4 different brands of dechlorinator I really don't know. 2 heaters, one looks new. Have each of them going in 2 different buckets, just to make sure they work proper. A bit paranoid about frying the fish. The 20g doesn't leak, not sure about other 2 yet.

The bottles of chems that were left outside by them, decided to take the advice given here and toss them out. Just to be safe.

About the gravel filter, most likely I won't use that small tank, but I'm curious as to what part I'm missing. Will post pics of it up, once I get my camera back.

The molly seems to be doing fine, though I really don't know anything about them yet. So gotta read up on them. Will post a picture of it, so we can figure out what type of molly it is. Any thoughts on some companions for this guy or umm gal. In the 10g tank that it arrived in, this weekend I will have time to take out the ugly multicolour substrate at the moment its orange/blue/green and some other shades.
