Do ghost shrimp or any species of snail wrap their eggs in algae? I found what look like clumps of tiny white/gray eggs wrapped under a tight barrier of green algae. I doubt any of my tetra fish are capable of wrapping algae... I went away for the weekend and came back to find the possible egg wrapping near the end of a rotala indica stem. Has anyone else seen something like this?

Shrimp carry their eggs, they don't lay them. I've never heard of any animal 'wrapping' eggs. Maybe it's the current from the filter that has made the algae twist around the eggs?

Yup, not shrimps.

I have heard of some fish doing similar things with eggs but not many, to me it sounds like something else. Maybe a pic would help

I tried to take a few pictures, but my camera is too lousy to show the fine detail necessary to surpass seeing the plant's shape.

Thanks for your help!!! I suppose I'll just have to wait and see if anything emerges from the eggs underneath the algae!

This is the best pic I could get of the algae encased eggs. The ghost shrimp's antennae point to the area on the other stem with the algae and eggs.
