I splurged! I got a 50w submersible for my 10g, instead of the cheap 25w one. I have a few questions.
1. It has a cap on the end...Is it for packaging reasons? Should I take it off, or leave it on?
2. Why the H*LL do they call it a "submersible" if you can only put it in the water up to the "max water" line? It doesn't sit in my tank any lower then the old one I had.

well, technically it is submersible if it can be placed under the water.

Wouldn't that make all aquarium heaters "Submersible"?

I know most that say they are "submersible" actually are. Like my stealth has a minimum water line, but the whole thing can be placed under.

I'd have to agree.. doesn't seem like such a deal to me either, mine has a minimum water line just like 100gw

I bought it mainly because it was better constructed then the plain glass ones.
This is a pic of the one I bought.

I wrote the company last night and they claim it IS completely submersible and that they have to put a MAX water line on for C.S.A regulations. I am still not sure if I should sink it or not. You figure it would say "MIN Water Line" not MAX. I wish I had bought a different one!

I say Dunk it!! go for it and if it blows the circuit breaker you can take it back and get your money back.

AHHHH! THE PRESSURE!

Damn heater. The tank is up to 84F and it was still coming on! I turned it off. I am not sure if the heater caused the problem, or if it was the sunlight hitting the tank, but the heater was set just above 70 (no number marking, but it said on the package that it was pre-set at 70).

I've never seen them around here. I'd have to order one online and I don't want to have to pay for it to come across the border. I swear Customs has it out for me!
