Does anyone raise daphnia? I just found out they like pH between 7.2-9. I added a handfull of poweder calcium carbonate to the water, incresed the pH, and they are more active and breading out of control now.

Im just seeing if anyone has some tips that might help.

Stick in a Piranha, that should sort you out!! (bat)

Seriously though, I have no tips, I just thought that would be entertaining. Good luck!

Bill,
Here's part 6 (http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/aquariumforum/showthread.php?t=18051) of my how to culture various organisms. To my experience they do best between 6.5 and 7.5. My cultures are 7.2 and 70 degrees.

Thanks, that is helpful and appreciated.

Here is another link I found. Pretty much the same info.

http://www.caudata.org/daphnia/

I have also found people doing studies, I didnt save the link, that shows the increase of calcium did not affect the daphnia at all. It showed an increase in ammonia affected the breading and reproduction but did not kill daphnia. They used magna, the same that I have. Ill try to find that link again. Any opinion on that?
