OK, all this talk of baby guppies etc has got me wantin the sound of little flippin tails, but puttin a shot of JD in the tank, providing candlelight and soft music just aint cuttin it, what am I doin wrong.

How do we get em in the mood:malelovies:

Really? lol. I never had any problem, they always seemed happy to do it. Male guppies LIVE to do it. If they aren't having fry, your females might not be old enough or the fry may be getting eaten. They aren't much more then eyes with a tail when they are born.

We did have one lot of baby balloon mollies from a fish my wife adored but died about a month after (bloody undergravel uptakes), The wife was like a midwife, as they popped she scooped em into the saver net, well she got 5, 3 died, then the last died for unknown reasons about a week ago, it was healthy eating well, then I found it laying on a leaf of a plant.

Fry can be like that, some just to have what it takes to make it. If you aren't moving the females into their own tank to have their fry, then you need lots of cover for the fry. Also, you would have to get rid of the UGF. Fry always go to the bottom.

The UGF is only there now to spread the weight, and for when we medicate, but I moved the uptake to the middle so no more can get caught behind it like my wifes beloved Pigsy the ballon Molly she used to be able to pat.

Just thinking, what's the temp. in your tank? Sometimes raising the temp. to 80 can get them to breed.

Raising the temps and a water change and keeping the lights dimmed to prevent distraction.

Any luck yet?

Perhaps?, I have 2 convicts that are getting a bit territorial and quite chummy,

The water temp in both tanks is 78, I feed a variety of flakes bloodworms, shrimp, and pellets (the cichlids also get earthworms from time to time).
