I have approximately 30 new Green Terror Chichlids in a 30 gallon aquarium. At what size will they be or will they be threatend by the adult fish? There is only the male and female in this aquarium.
I also have a 125 gallon aquarium with Chichlids (variety). The Terrors and the fish in the 125 gallon do not get along well. Can anyone help?

I would think once the fish are about 4-5 months old the adults might begin to bother the young. Do you plan on selling the fry or giving them away?

I would like to sell them if possible I know there is no way to keep all of them. I am hoping they will have a good survival rate.

Hi Tabitha,
How often do your GT's spawn? I have found that with a lot of my cichlids,
(not all) that they will eat the fry just before they spawn a new lot to
leave room for them, my jag fry I have to move to a grow on tank on
or before 21 days because the parents are so prolific.
I'm not saying your GT's will eat the fry but there is definately a chance
that they may do so.

Hi Mike - Thanks for that info. This is the first time and was actually quite a surprise to us. We originally had these two Terrors in our 125 gallon aquarium and they got to aggresive with our other Cichlids. It sounds as though we need still another aquarium for these young soon. I'd like to see them make it. Oh my I guess we are truly in the fish business. We also have a 10 gal and a 5 gal. I'm thinking maybe a 20 gal for these young. Thanks Again!:14:

The 20 is the right tank for the fry.Start getting it ready and move the fry in as soon as its cycled.:c3:

If you do plan to continue to breed your GT, you will need a bigger tank for the adults. An 8" male is too big for a 30g.

Hi tabitha,
A 20g is a good size tank for growing out your fry to sellable,
exchangable size, you can use some of your filter media from the 125g to
kick start your cycle in the 20g, I prefer to have no substrate in my fry
tanks as it's easier to remove uneaten food, feed the fry little and often,
keep up 10% water changes and you'll soon have happy, healty juvies.
Best of luck with them.
Mike.
