Rubber-banded Wisteria

Hi everyone, I'm new to plants. I just bought some water wisteria from Petsmart, and there are about 4 stems that are rubber-banded together. Should I keep them like this(will they grow alright?), separate them, or does it even matter?

seperate them, the rubber band will eventually damage the stems

Definitly remove the rubber band. It will hurt the plant as it grows. Just plant each stem under the gravel and you should be fine. :-)
