has anyone ever used the gravel you get from a home center?(home depot,lowes) seems it would be alot cheaper than that you get from apet store or even wal-mart. what size of gravel should i use? i plan on using live plants in my aquarium. thanks

you can. there's actually people on this site who have done it. you have to make sure it's aquarium safe though.

I would go with smaller gravel, the most common size I see is about right.

my gravel came from home depot. . . just be sure to use natural stone pebbles and clean them out really really well. . go to a 99 cent store and buy strainers and clean them off that way. . worked for me...and was cheap
