Does anyone here use it? I was talked into buying it, but I'm not going to use it til I get a test kit.

Kalk is not really necessary unless you are keeping SPS or lots of LPS. It's a nice little thing, but it is used to keep your Calcium and Alkalinity levels up. Without stony corals in your system it's not necessary.

yep, goldbarb is right, unless you have a tank loaded with LPS or quite a few SPS its not necessary. on alot of tanks with a average amount of corals, weekly water changes are all you need to dose

OK I was told it would keep my purple live rock purple, or they would just turn brown.

theres nothing wrong with brown rock, its good too. purple rock just has coraline, some people think its beautiful, some see it as a pain.

you will see coraline after the tank has been stable and the parameters are good for a few months. you can use purple up too, it speeds up coraline growth. ive had more than good results with it. you just need to test your calcium when using it though.

It's not needed to keep coraline or cause it to grow. Proper Alk and Ca levels are the 2 chief ingredients for it to grow and be maintained.
