Any tips? I want to pick a pair up. I know he differnce between the male and female, the male has a larger rounder head. They also get 3 and half inch's. Do they need salt? I read a couple places and they say they didnt. Any help would be great. I am thinking about putting them in a ten gallon, is that to small?
Thanks

They'd be all you'd be able to put in your tank, Red, because they are terrible fin rippers. Twenty-gallon would be better of course, and a soft substrate is better, as they live in swampy waters, so the bottoms are very peaty. pH 6.5-7.2, moderate soft to very moderately hard. 75 to 80 temps. They love live worms and little crustaceans, though they'll probably take frozen. They are cave breeders, so rock caves or flower pots if you're interested in breeding them. Feed them live food three or four times a week and as soon as they are mature, they'll breed.
Droll little creatures. Just can't keep much of anything with them.
And no salt, no salt at all.
