Haha. Depending on your tanks it would be hard to house 25 guppies! Feeding them will be great because you know they are disease free and it will be a great treat! good luck

I do have a problem. I am going away for 10 days and I do not know what to do with the fry.

I have those bolcks that dessolve and feed the bigger fish. Do they work for the fry?

Can't get someone to feed them? I hate using those block, messy things. I would think they would work for fry as well, so long as the fry are big enough to eat flake and there are no other fish in the tank.

Ideally, if you could get someone to feed them that would be great. The block should work... but can get messy and they might not take to it.

The fry are in their own tank. I dont have anyone to feed them. I dont mind cleaning the tank when I get back. Will see how it goes. Hopefully they will not all be dead when I get back.

Not only are you going to feed your babies to other larger fish, you are abandoning them shortly after birth! Ive got half the mind to call social services on you.:wink2:

Not my fault they came into this world. If they get eaten by other fist that is their fault. And if they cannot look after them selves that that is their fault as well.

Call them if you want they do not exist in Australia, I think.

Any way what babies are you talking about, I cannot see any babies...

Your other fish should be fine without food for 10 days, but I doubt the fry will make it. Since you plan on using them as healthy homegrown feeders, why not let them take their chances in the main tank? You can provide some plant cover to help them along, and then hopefully the next batch will come along at a more opportune time. With several carnivorous fish in the house, I am certainly not against raising my own feeders, but letting them get polluted by a feeder block or starved to death may not be the best solution. My biggest problem I had with feeder blocks is that the fish eat until they are gone....and then they also have excess waste and the waste from the feeder block polluting the tank.

25 Babies!!!! well I am jealous....I have only gotten six from two fish...Congrats Daddy...I would try the feeding blocks. You will most likely get more in a month or so depending how many females u had to begin with I still have two prego's and I am getting one of those baby nursery's that can house two mothers at a time and seperates them. That way I can save as many fry as I can for my baby Jack, he can't eat the big feeders...Yet...lol

I would either go with a feeder block or do as kimmers said and put them in the main tank. At least if they die (get eaten) it will go to a good cause and they wont just starve to death. Good luck wiht it!

Or pay about ten bucks (US) for an automatic fish feeder

I dont know about those automatic feeders. I have heard a lot of bad things about them, but if you are willing to take a risk...

As for automatic feeders, they are extremely handy. We bought one when we went on vacation for x-mas. We were planning on being gone two weeks and had had bad experiences with the dissolving food blocks.

We bought a simple battery operated one for 35$CA, loaded it up with a variety of flakes and freeze dried tubifex. A couple of calibration spins to regulate the amount of food and all was fine. We have actually kept on using it since we have came back from vacation and never had a problem.

The only thing I would recommend is forking out the extra cash for a programmable one. Ours dispenses food once every 12 hours and it's not adjustable. A good programmable one can dispense food multiple times a day and may be more suitable if you have herbivorous fish. The other thing to watch out for is if you're feeding something other than flakes or small pellets, the dispenser may not be able to dispense them.

Honestly, I've had bad experiences with the one that feeds every 12 hours. It wouldn't clamp on to the tank, and soeone kept taking it off of the exact place of where it needed to be.

i would never trust the auto feeders

Just the risk that things can go horribly wrong and ruin everything. That is why i wont ever use one

yeah. but an automatic feeder is not part of the cycle of life. it's a machine, man made
