Hi...
Like 2 weeks ago, some white fungus thing started growing in my plants leaves... in my moneywart... i took the plants off day before yesterday and added a driftwood that i bought from petsmart the same day... now i have the white weird stuff growing on my driftwood too... please take a look at the following pictures and leave some comment on how to solve it...

It is just a thin mould layer that is forming over the wood (it is getting used to being submerged) It may be unsightly but it doesn't harm the fish in any way... it will go away on it's own after 2 weeks to a month.

I had it as well.I just removed the wood and cleaned it with a brush under hot running water and placed it back in.It has yet to come back.It only happened in one tank so far.I still watch for it and haven't seen anything yet!
Its nice to know its harmless! Thanks Fishalicious!
I never had any in my plants though!
I also have experienced this with my Mopani wood. Nothing to worry about, just scrub it off.

I have the same thing on my wood, but I don't know about it going away in a month... I put it in my tank the beginning of June and the stuff still comes back, although not as much as at first, I've scrubbed it off several times too. Drives me crazy...

It is probably because you keep scrubbing it off.... it keeps forming a protective layer from the start over & over. If you just leave it it will pass.

I had something like that growing on my red mangrove propagules...until I got a pleco. He seemed to love it! As far as I know it didn't hurt him.

You are libable to see it on new plants and wood. Plants when you put them in a tank go thru some shock just like fish so the leaves you see may start to die off. When they do they will usually get a mold layer likle you are seeing. Just leave them alone and they will start to grow new shoots.
