Hi,

Are there any kind of plants you can put in a tank with a Betta (siamese fighter) without any natural light, which will live?
It sounds bad, but the betta does have a lamp angled away so as he gets lots of light, although not natural.

So I need a real plant, he won't eat, and can live without UV lights!
I realise this may be impossible, but thought I would give it a go!

Cheers

you cang et many low-ligh plants at pet shops..I can not recommend any as I dont know which you have in your country...but they should be able to tell you which will survive...also..you an try some silk plants...they wont hurt the bettas fins...bettas don eat plants..in nature they are carnivores..

Is this in a bowl or a tank?

Its says 5gal. in his sig. I figured it was a tank as it would be hard to plant a bowl properly.:c2:

I've got silks and Java Fern with mine. Java Fern does OK with low light...

And I would agree with the Java Fern and Java Moss. Neither need lots of light.

Is it open-topped?

Its in a tank, I have a filter and all that in there. I have silk plants at the minute, I just don't like them that much. Also, it has a lid, I know the fish can jump so I didn't want to risk not having one on it.

Thanks lads, I will give the java fern, and/ or the Moss a go.

Cheers!
