I have a 29Gallon with a Florescent 18watt bulb. I have thought for a while it is to much light. I think thats why I have more alge in that tank then any other of mine and thats why I keep having dead leaves on my Sword Plant. I was thinking of buying a 12 watt or even 10 watts florescent bulb, but I think 12 should be good. 6 Watts less.

How much light do you use on your 29Gallon?

I have 32 watts on my 45 gallon. nothing is growing in there except for some java fern. java moss might survive, too. everything else will die.

there's 9 watts on my 5 gallon, so there's more plants in there that are doing a lot better.

You don't have much angle? Do you keep live plants in it?

Now I'm thinking that yes the fish were eating the plants, but they may of lost leaves faster because to much light. Only thing that I have tried that grows good in the tank is Anachris. Also was a problem fish loved to rip the leaves off.

In my 20 Gallon with Snails, Clams and Frogs I have 10 plants that live great. I always thought it was because of no fish, but now I'm starting to wonder. That tank uses a Neon florescent bulb. The other tank just uses a regular Florescent light.

5 and 10 gallon tank plants grow fine too.

I have a 20 high with a 19 watt light. I really want to get something much larger to support the plants better

that's a fairly deep tank. what kind of plants do you have? h.o., compact florescents would do the trick. you could get a compact florescent retrofit kit for your current hood, possibly
