As long as you rinse them VERY thouroughly and maybe soak them for a while they should be ok, but dont quote me on that.

I've seen them in tanks before, but you definitely need to find some way to make them aquarium safe. Not a chance you could boil them in a big pot?

Bricks should be ok after a few minutes of a very good scrub and rinse, but why would you want to put bricks in your tank when you could put in fake or real plants, decorations or even rocks.

you could use aquarium safe silicon and affix lava rocks to the blocks, that would be pretty cool lookin

cinderblocks are really heavey dude. . i would say if you do want to use them becarefull where you obtain them from , make sure they were not exposed to any chemicals outside and wash them out very throughly . . you may also want to use larger Pvc piping they are not that heavey and still provides hiding places for your fishes .. welcome to this site as well! :thumb:

or lava rock that has been siliconed together to make a cave.

or lava rock that has been siliconed together to make a cave.

that would be a safer bet. lava rock is not as dense and is way lighter than cinderblocks. also, bacteria and the such will have a better surface to adhere.
