i have a 30 gallon tank that needs a little cleaning after i clean it out is it o.k. to bleach the tank?

I think you can use diluted bleach if you rinse well and let it dry. I have never used anything to clean the insides of my tanks other then elbow grease. Don't take my word for it until you hear from someone else.

I used a baking soda solution and it worked well. If you do use bleach i would make sure it is strongly diluted and rinse it VERY throuroghly

Yea....I've got ya both by a few years also!

I have always used bleach solutions for cleaning tank items of grime and algae.....you can always use dechlorinator in the water after to get rid of any lingering bleach. Rinse well, then fill with dechlorinated water, or in the case of decor, dip in dechlorinated water before putting back into tank.

Diluted bleach works well, I've use a 10% solution (1 bleach to 9 water). To get the bleach out, just fill up the tank and let it sit for a day. Drain and repeat a few times. It will eventually leach out all the residual bleach.

When you start up the tank, put a charcoal filter just to make extra sure that all the bleach is gone.
