I have a neon rainbow that is pregnant. Do I need to do anything for her and what will she do? This is my first time with rainbows in the tank, so I am not sure what to do.

Thank you, great article. Two questions: What is the purpose of the 5-6 mm grate on the bottom of the basket? And who it be ok to just set up a small tank for the breeders or is the basket nesessary? Thank you again for all the help.

It allows the eggs to fall through and protects them from being eaten.

You don't have to use a basket but you will have to keep a closer eye on the parents and remove them as soon as the spawning is complet in that case. You will also most likely get less fry.
