About a week ago I saw this little cute albino red shinning between some common tiger oscars in a dirty LFS in a dirtier tank, add to it Ich and a hollow belly maybe because of being kept hungry for long time.
got him for $2 and brought it home in the quarantine. now hes in my 40g with parrots and rainbows. at least its a better home for some months. hes 2 and half inch long now.

eats well and acts normal but his belly looks a bit deformed. theres a small hump on the anal area. it occurred after the first feeding. seems when I started feeding him after being kept hungry for a long time his intestines got extended unusually :( I think I should feed him less than normal for a while to help him get better.

also he has got some blacks on the fins and tail edges during this week, I have no experience with albinos but I think its not unusual as I've seen an albino red with black edges on the Hikari cichlid Bio-gold+ cover! lol

here are some of his pictures.

Nice Oscar! What are doing about the stomach problem?
Are you feeding it anything to soften its stools,it may make it easier on him.Don't peas work for that?

I think that was a mistake to feed him like normal. poor O was hungry for a long time and suddenly eating a lot of food caused this problem. I should have fed him gradually.
now hes in with some other fish and its hard to prevent him eat much! but I will try to control his diet to make him compress back his stomach. and I will try pea, it may help. thanks.

Nice fishie!! Definitely try feeding them some peas, if it is constipation, they will help.
Mine dont really like peas, but since they look like something moving in the water, they eat them and get a few down. Most are spit out.

his stomach looks better now after 10 days. he eats some little pieces of pea when he is hungry.
and his fins and tail's edge has turn to black.
here is 2 new pictures.
ps: ignore those 2 peacock bass cichlids :14: they won't stay here for long!

Wow! What a change. Your Oscar looks better and better by the day. I'm not huge on Albinos generally (dunno why) but that is a fish I would keep. Awesome oranges and blacks on it.

Thank you all for the compliments.
he is doing very well and has become one of the best looking oscars I've seen. also he is very kind with his smaller tank mates. I'm glad that I picked him up that day.

A 9 months update!

seems the pictures in the first post are dead, but there are some in the other pages.

Now I think I need to find a new tank to rescue him from the current tank!!!

He's BEAUTIFUL!! I can see why you bought him that day, and I'm sure HE appreciates it too!! I don't think I've seen another Oscar quite like that. He really is striking looking!

I understand about taking a ragged looking, half-starved animal and turning it into something beautiful. We rescue horses, and a few of them were literally HOURS away from death when we took them.

GOOD FOR YOU!! thumbs2: thumbs2:
