how could someone seriously think that fish was "happy" or comfortable!? The thing can barely swim and the sad thing is even if someone DOUBLES it's tank size and "rescues" them the tank would stillbe FAR to small. Theyshouldnt be sold for a small tank based on the theory they're gonna die anyway!!!! and people need to be more respneible for their decisions!

At least the water is clear. I wonder how much maintenance he is doing to keep it decent looking, or had he just done a 100% water change.

I have seen worse though.

I wonder if they grew that big in that tank, or if they bought them that size?? They look incredibly healthy... I don't understand how someone could look at that in their home everyday and not think the tank is too small. I don't get it...

I drive through NB every month or so, maybe I'll stop by and steal them...

Some people just have no clue! They will probably die shortly after someone puts them in 1000 gallon tank, and that is barely big enough.
They must be vibrating from stress!:c2:

I'd pay him an extra hundred bucks just to slap him upside the head!!!!!!!

Wow, that looks like its only a 30 gallon. I wish there were some sort of animal cruility laws pertaining to fish

The LFS who sold this person these fish (possibly when they were still tiny) is also at fault here.

It's sad, but I'd wager the majority of LFS customers do not have a clue. The quantity of large catfish and other big fish (pacu's and the like) found at petshops and LFS's sadly outnumber the quantity of hobbyists who know how to properly care for them and are able to do so.

I saw a tank containing a BUNCH of channel catfish the other day. I can almost gurantee that none of them will end up in a suitable sized tank. In my opinion large species fish should be special orders (and not sold in bulk).

A[Only Registered Users Can See Links.] see these guys all the time at pet stores.

So tiny and cute, schooling fish so everyone buys a ton of them. Poor guys.

Cocoa, I live closer to the east coast, I'll get his one. I leave for my journey tomorrow, if I don't come back assume the worst.

We sell channel cats at my work. They shouldn't be in tanks. We have them for ponds. We had a guy with a 180 grow out a channel cat in it, when he found someone to take it (a wholesaler) they said it was the biggest they had ever seen come out of a tank. It was 30" or so when he got rid of it. But for a species that can get to over 4', effectively no tank is large enough.

People want and buy fish that will get too big and will do it no matter what, even if the LFS refuses. For struggling small LFSs it is either sell it to them and hope things somehow turn out well, or let them give their money to the big business already putting you out of business. It is absolutely no excuse, but that is the reality half of it.

Maybe they were just put in that tank so they could get a good shot for Kijiji.
They are very hard to get a good shot of.They're fast!
Although it is extremely cruel.

Go get em NickFish!!!!!!:19:

Wow! That is mental! I don't know really what kind of fish these are, being aggressive, semi-aggressive etc., but I would not be shocked if they started attacking each other over the space invasion.

Scary stuff though!

Ghostknife,They are very gentle but very fast and not very bright. Many have comitted suicide by hitting the side of the tank at full speed. Some have been known to make it through the side of the tank.1000 gal.tank is too small.

That was one of my first fish.I was young and computers were still all dos.
He hit the side of the tank so hard and that was with the lights out.I think my dog freaked him out with his tail or something.who knows, very skittish fish!

some people really don't have a clue

More precisely, they don't care for lives of other living creatures. Had they, they would have known better than to buy Pangasius species catfish for an aquarium that size.

Yeah... Its sad, poor fishies can barely turn around comfortably. I hope somebody with a clue takes them and helps them.

I would help them if I had the space for a big ol' tank, the money to get them, and a way to get them (only a 2 hr drive), but it doesn't seem like I'll be able to help them any time soon. Poor fish:ssad:
