What exactly is a blog?

Being a college student you would think I would already know this but I have heard alot about blogs but never knew what they were or the purpose?

It's basically like an online diary, a log, or web log, which is what blog is short for.

Most people use them just to tell other people about their lives and to express their opinions, while some have themed blogs where they only write about their disease, pet, job, relationship etc.

A lot of online stores have blogs to advertise new products and discounts.
