Well a job came up with the local humane society...and I got an interview call almost immediately...im excited but so nervous. The position is the Executive Director...so its kinda managing the local shelter. I haven't been in management before but i have all the qualifications in regards to administration..and accounting. I guess they must think im somewhat qualified if they contacted me for the position...
Anyone ever worked for a local humane society? I love animals so i think that it would be an awesome job combining admin and working with animals.. I dont knwo what to expect at the interview though...eek!

I am sure you will do great!!!
I have worked at our animal control shelter here, with our school, to get hands on education. It can be very hard!!!Very sad as well. Funding can be an issue, therefore treatments get pretty interesting, like using one tube of meds for as many animals as possible, off label use of meds, LOL FUN FUN!!! It is also a tough call sometimes on how much to do, how long to keep an animal. 5 days here. Public relations is fun!! I think you would do a wonderful job there!!!
GOOD LUCK!!!! Let us know how it goes!!!

Good luck. Doubt there would be anything you can't handle. Entering into the books the animals that go out and what was charged for adoption and making sure you have the proper medications and foods in supply. They will go over all of that with you. Wishing you luck.
Just be yourself and you'll be fine.(pumpkin)

Thanks guys! Im doing a bit of reasearch tonight and i'll do some at work tomorrow (oops did i say that out loud)! haha.
Its seems like a big position but at the same time its a small business...I guess we'll know at 7pm tomorrow!
I did 40 hours of court-ordered community service at our local Animal Rescue League... I was instructed not to touch the animals though. :14:
Good luck to you!

I was so nervous to go there..it went okay...a few tough questions i just tried to talk my way through them...they were understanding he's like i know these are tough questions..dont worry if you dont know an answer. There was three people there. THe main part being accounting, she was wondering how familiar with simply I would be..i mean i did it in school with flying colours..but i hadn't touched it in a year or two...so I felt pretty uncomfortable when she asked me to go on the computer and print a report and do one other thing...i kinda froze i know that i can do it..but i freaked out..the other two people there were like its fine..don't worry about it..geeze i felt like an idiot...Overall it went ok..just the wage is VERY low..i mean its a 10 dollar an hour drop...it would change a lot in my life..bills..just everything. So im not sure that I can take it..but I really want out of the job im in..Im stuck, i dont think i can live on the wage..unless I worked 2 jobs again which could almost be worse than what im doing now...?!
On top of it all, my dog who had leg surgery that failed about 6 months ago..well his other leg seems to be hurting now..im so upset..sucks. I think I need to get him TPLO surgery on both knees, i hate seeing him sore like that..he's happy but is limping quite a bit again.
