I started my first 10g tank a week to a week and half ago and have decided to do fishless cycling. The problem is that I have not seen any decrease in ammonia levels (nor increase in nitrites or nitrates) since I started.
Unfortunely I do not have a source for gravel from an established tank so I have tried both Hagen Cycle and API Stress Zyme to no avail. I have a Rena SmartFilter 20 running along with a heater set to 86F and air pump with airstone running.
I started the aquarium with distilled water as I was concerned about the condition of my well water. I intially treated the water with Jack's Aquarium & Pets Complete Water Conditioner (local Ohio stores).
Does anyone have any suggestions and/or any ideas about what is going on?
Thank you!
