Hello all,
I am setting up a 30 gal hopefully this weekend. i have a AC 70 filter for it up and running on an established tank, its been there for about a month to grow the bacteria colony. it will have a few live plants and a black sand substrate. i guess my question is about the procedure of setting it up, obviously clean sand, stick it in tank, add some water, plant plants, attach heater, add decor, fill it up. then what? should i let it sit then for the sand to settle? when would i add the filter and the first fish? should i do it right after i fill it? or let the sand settle? i dont want to add the filter without fish because then i would lose the bacteria colony. should i just let it sit for a day or so without the filter? then add the filter and fish the next day? another dumb question. since the filter has been seeding on the established tank, i can add more than just like 3 fish right? i could add a similarly sized bioload? probably a little less than whats in the other tank now?

After you fill the tank with substrate and decor Start up your filter.Place a small sponge or bio bag over your intake to prevent sand from entering your filter.Add fish slowly.Start with a few .Give it a week and add another few and so on.
Thats the way I did it and have no casuelties.:19:

Have a great time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:19:
