I am cycling a small 10G tank but the lightbox that came with it is dodgy and I decided not to use it.
I have ordered a new lightbox but that won't be here for a few weeks,
Will there be any problems? I am doing a fishless cycle, I used the water from my other tank, and got some javamoss from someone to seed the filter.
Any advice welcome

I think you should be fine to cycle w/o the new lights.

Agreed, no problems.

Just so you know for the future as well--water from an established tank really won't help as the bacteria is largely cultured in the filter itself. The java moss should help with seeding. Just make sure that you are now adding ammonia to keep things rolling.

would ammonia not kill my javamoss?

If dosed properly, Ammonia won't hurt your Java Moss. If you were to take your moss and dunk it in ammonia, that would be a different story.

Anyway, you need a Nitrogen source to cycle your tank and ammonia is commonly available, cheap and easy to use.
