I have not been having luck with BN pl*cos.
Is it normal for a BN pleco to I guess purge it's gills? It seems to puff up these finger like appendages behind it's head. What is this? why is it doing it? I'd try to provide a picture but another one just dies last night :(
My first lasted 1 year and then stopped being active, just clinged to the side of the tank for a week and dies. My last one was 3 months old and has done the same. Both have changed color (I know they can do this) and seemed to purge that odd appendage on each side behind there head frequently.
Tank Info:
Tank is 20 Gallons, 3 year aged drift wood, many plants, a few hiding rocks, and 9 Tigerbarbs as tank mates. Very good filtration with 2 air stones and a powerhead to also create a current. PH 6.8 no traces of any other chemicals or ammonia.
