They are a major pain in the butt when you want to get your tank clean!
If you ever have fry , they can and will get under your UGF and die.Sometimes you can suck them out with a gravel vacuum .
So much extra work.
I use mine to rinse gravel outside over a bucket :hmm3grin2orange:

will the penguin 200 and 3 air stone be enough to keep my tank clean and enough oxygen?

How many gallons is the penguin rated for?

You would be best off with a filter that is made for a 40gal.
You can almost never have too much filtration!:c3:

You should fill out your profie as well,At least the tank section

this is for upto 50 gallons and my tank is 40g.. should be fine all by itself right?

The rule of them usually is to get a filter twice what it is rated for. (sorry if didnt make sense) Hypothetically i have a 30 gallon tank and i want a filter rated for 60 gallons.

It depends on how many fish you have and how much waste they make. Having real plants would really help a small filter. They feed on what your filter is trying to clean.

I would get two Aqua Clear 100's or a canister. I have a Penquin 350 on my 29 gallon tank and that 200 is way too small for a 40 gallon.

Isn't the 200 rated for 200 gallons an hour? That would cycle your water about 5 times an hour, you probably want somewher closer to 8 or 10.

should i buy one more power filter which can cycle 185 g or 200 g an hours?
