update on sick plec

This is the strangest thing I have ever seen, for almost a month now my Plec has had a hole in his chest which has been getting bigger. The skin covering his chest is breaking apart and is falling off. I posted a thread last week about this and I have followed the advice given and have treated him with Melafix and Pimafix, Which ends tonight (Also a Sterba's cory which had problems with mouth erosion had a major eruption around his front fin, tail was bleeding and something was attacted to it's head it has since died, Why would this occur when treatment for it is being giving). I Know it might take a while to heal (IF) but he dosen't seem to be in any pain from the photo you can see that if you had your skin peeled off you'd be dead. So how can he still be alive? maybe he's just getting old I've had him for 8-9 years. I just don't see it getting any better, Any ideas welcome

have your water parameters been stable all through medication?

That really does look like a heater burn to me, although it is more severe than you generally see. Not that it matters much, since I would guess the recommended treatment would be Pimafix and Melafix anyhow.

Sorry to hear about your pleco. Must be heartbreaking with such an old pet.

i had the same problem with my sleepy cod(assie native) he had it and you could see all the mucles and stuff(kinda gross) and i found out it was an ulcer.

your pleco looks like he could have it but it useually only happends to brakish or marien fish not fresh water but it can happen to fresh all that i did was treat with melafix for a wekk and then did a water change of 60% and treated again and he is almost fine now
