I've been noticing my rainbows all jammed together on one end of the tank with their noses partically hitting the glass for days. It looks odd to see them all facing the same direction and not moving. I finally checked it out this morning to see what they were doing and they are looking at their reflection in the glass.

Reminded me of when my Yorkie used to run in the bedroom 50 times a day to bark at himself in the mirror.

Hi Laddy Hobbs,

I have seen my Rainbow fish do that a lot of times. But they normally only do that if there is only males. What type of Rainbows are you referring to?

Yes these are a wonderful rainbow fish. But they are not the true Rainbow fish which is normally found in southern and western Pauper New Guinea and northern territory of Australia.

My little clown loaches do the same thing! It's so cute. Every night as tank lights go off and room lights are on, I see them go up to the glass and around and around they swim with their reflection. It's soooo cute!!! Gotta love our finned friends - always finding ways to entertain us!:19:

This picture you posted is one of the "blue eyed" species Pseudomugil. A nice little fish for a smaller tank. I may get some of these for my 29 gallon.

Mine are the Melanotaenia species....Boesemani's, Turquoise and Spendia's.
