are these the sanils that i see in my river al the time i live in west north carolina bout a hour away form the mountains idk if it them but they sure look alike

Probably not. There are a lot of gastropods which have a spired shell like MTS.

i live in winston, and in one of the local stores i saw a field guide to aquatic critters that had the species listed for the area. Maybe paw around your local library or book store? In the lakes i boat in i haven't seen any snails, but have seen FW clams. I'm toying with getting a few and putting them in my QT tank to seem what happens.
