I got this today... its beautiful, burly!! Its 5/8" glass! I bought it for 175 with a 20g sump set up which I dont think I am going to run just now. Buddy gave me a bunch of stuff, like 5 gallons of sand, surface agitator, heater, bio balls, plus the homemade stand.
I did NOT trust the stand at first, despite it holding the tank for how ever long to start with. I choped it up and made it to my standards.
Using a fluval 404 on it for now, I might get another HOB filter for it just for some extra filtration.
Waters pretty out to lunch at the moment, but it should come around soon since the fluval is cycled.

Now the oscars can have miles to swim in, up until they grow up and only have kilometers.

And if anybody is wondering since it came up on another site, the water level is low because of the sump filter set up in the corner. There is an inlet hole i have to keep the water below until I plug it.

Stand looks good and solid to me. Can't get much better than 2x4's unless you used cement blocks.
The hoses look wrong to me from that photo. The hose on the left should be the uplight hose and the output hose on the right. Are they like that because they look backwards to me. (sorry. Hard to tell from the photo.)
I would also put the canister under the stand so you can shorten those hoses, have them almost straight up and down and no loops in them.

Looks like a great score to me. Running the sump with the cannister filter would be a great idea as it would increase the water volume thus making it easier to maintain your water perameters. With oscars being very messy you need all the filtration you can get. How many oscars do you plan to house in there by the way?

I'm not sure what you mean? The left hose on the fluval is inlet, and the right is outlet?
But yeah, I do need to shorten the inlet hose a bit. I just didn't want to so quick just incase I needed the length for something.
Thanks for the comments, yeah I'll probably rock the sump soon. And only two tiger's will be in this tank. :19:

Great tank:) Wish I had a tank that size...
If you put some doors on the front of your stand it will look a bit tidier, especially when you start storing things there:)

Oh yeah, and as for the front of the stand. I was thinking of something simple like just black material. Simple curtains or something I can brush out of the way.
