Any reason for a betta fish to float sideways? I forgot to ask in an earlier post about it. Poor squidward does swim normally but when he decides to float he floats on his side. We thought it was his swim bladder so we fasted him and when that didn't work we tried antibotics and that didn't work. Anyone got any clues as to why he floats on his side?

Sadly I just recently put down a fish with swim bladder.
Unrecoverable his case was.

There are several things that could cause it.

1.) Constipation throws off the little body and causes them the float, pea clears them out.

2.) Bacterial infection can be treatable but sometimes untreatable.

3.) Prior accident, the fish had some sort of injury in his life before you got him and theres nothing you can do for it.

If it's not the first one it's one of the other two...not so happy ones.

If you can get him to eat some frozen cooked peas it may help but seldom does. He probably isn't eating for now now, anyway.
