I really like dwarf frogs and so does my family. I just got a 90g tank and of course, they want a frog but is it too tall for them? What is the limit on the height that is too much for a little dwarf frog to swim to to get air??

we have adf and i have to say they have alot of special issues. Kind of the special needs kids of fishkeeping, so to speak. I can't help but think that a tank over 18" deep would be too deep for them, as they are poor swimmers with bad eyesight and have to journey to the water top alot. Also, any other fish that you keep with them will either eat thier food or try to eat them as food. We started off with 2, but now only have one as the other committed accidental suicide(he swam head first into his feeding dish and busted his head open) But, our remaining frog is anorexic and is slowly starving to death despite being fed high quality food. Were it not for the fact that he eats his own skin when he molts and the gourami poop he eats he'd prob already be dead. We kept ours in a 3 gal tank to start the moved them into a 6. They really like the 6 we have the dwarf gourami in there with him and they get along well. With that nice big 90, i'd suggest you look into keeping some snails(mystery snails), shrimp, and a few kinds of schooling fish. A tank that size is awesome but prob not the best for ADF. Maybe other's will contradict me, but our could barely make it to the top of our 30(why we moved them) gl

Ok thank you. I thought it seemed kinda high. As for your silly DF, they must be extra special. The one I have in my 20g is a funny little guy but he doesn't seem overall that stupid. He's very fat and finds his food well. He even attempts to defend it from my common pleco.. which i guess isn't very smart... oh well. Maybe my family will like the idea of shrimp..

Do the shrimp need any salt??

figures i'd get the dim one of the bunch ;)

nope. In fact with any invert the cleaner the water the better. Ph in low 7's temp in the mid 70's iirc. My snails are happy in 7.2, 76-77 degree water with barbs, tetra, guppy, platy, and otos. I waffle back and forth on shrimp myself. I might try some once my 3gal tank recycles.

If you had floating plants at the top it would be fine. With plent of hiding spaces in the middle of the tank.
