i recently gave my angels to the petstore in sunray. and i got some guppies and some more female swordtails, hopeing the sword tails and guppies will breed. maybe i need more plants. the grourami i want is a dwarf and it's got orange and little blue lines in it. really cute. the last one i had, my angels murderd it. but no more angels ihad to give them up, they started killing everything in my tank off. so i would like to get at least 2 grouramis. i ave 7 male guppies and 5 females. as for swordtails i have 2 males and 5 females. and i still have some platies left at least 3 of them. exactly how many fish can i put in a 55 gallon long tank?? i dont actually get the so many inches rule per fish per galllon. in case anyones wondering i go to my doctors apt. on jan.22 at 10am. i hope i'm only haveing one baby and not 2. my mom seems to think im haveing twins since it runs in the family. and half my co-workers are wanting me to have twins too. any addvice regrading the groramis would be very helpful. thank you.

Welcome to the forum :)
Dwarf gouramis (the kind you are describing) would most likely be fine with you current fish. There is a small chance you will get a nasty one who nips, but that is rare.
Congrats on your upcoming arrival.
The fish per inch rule means that you can have 1" of fish for every gallon that you have. Guppies usually don't get over 2" so you could technically have 27 and a half Guppies in your 55g. Provided you have aeration, filtration, etc.

I have 4 dwarf grouramis in my 55 2 of the striped ones and 2 of the Neon blue ones. They are very calm the blue ones get chased a little by the other ones but I just think thats cus there newer. They are very friendly with my angels and danios and very pretty fish. I'm not too familar with the fish you have as far as how big they will get but I can tell you if you will have the room drawf grouramis are a great fish to have. Good luck with the breeding.

I see no problem with adding drawf gourami's with your current fish. Usually the only other fish another gourami will bother is one of it's one. You see so often the question of putting angels in community tanks and your bad luck with them shows just what can happen.
