Well, I thought I would post a pic of my new tank. It is currently in the progress of a very frustrating fishless cycle.

I haven't decided what to have in there. I am thinking South American Cichlids, what ones though, I have no clue yet!

Well, my 55g finally cycled. I did the necessary water change to bring down my nitrates to 10ppm.........here are the beauties that I picked up this afternoon.....

I decided to add 5 neon tetra to the tank. They made a nice addition. I was originally going to just keep the GBR's in the tank alone, but the tank looked so empty.

I am researching plants to see what ones I want in the tank. I would like quite a bit more plants in the tank, but I understand (now) that alot of them require the addition of CO2 and other things. So, onto my next challenge..........plants!:hmm3grin2orange:

well, one of my tetras showed up in my tank dead. I also have one missing......looks like the GBR's dont like them much!

So, after much deliberation with my husband and myself, I have decided that I will begin on a nice planted community tank.....I still will keep my beautiful Female GBR and begin to add others along the way....still deciding what to get though.

I love corys. They are fun fish, they add movement to the bottom of the tank, and they work as clean up. I believe that they like similar water parameters to the GBRs (aren't both from South America?).

I do plan on getting about 6+ of these fish. I love how cute they are. Going to the lfs today to do some shopping......what kind of tetras should I get?

I would get cardinals or rummynoses..

Emperors are nice too, if you can find them..

Good schoolers..

So, just an update as to what is in the tank...

5 honey gourami
4 julii corydora
2 punctatus corydora
1 keyhole cichlid

I also have a few plants:
5 bunches of 3 Undulate crypto
1 anubias barteri
2 bunches of 3 amazon sword
and some water lettuce

I would like to add a few more fish to the mix. I think I will go with the rummy nose tetras, and something else alike, maybe something doug z suggested. I would like to find one or two more keyholes to go in the tank though. I love these fish.
