I couldn't figure this out, Please :help:

My friend and I keep our bettas in 1 gl tank and the 3/4 gl bowl. I notice that there is a white filmmy stuff growing on top of the water. It always happens 2days after the water change, and it grows thicker after a week sometimes, but it never grows on my bettas! I thought it might be fungus in the water, so I try the salt + Mardel's Maroxy for ture fungal infections but no help!

I wonder is it just dust? If not what is it , and How can I get rid of it?

THANK YOU!!

Could it be your betta's bubble nest?

I might have the same thing. Would you say it's more like a clear-ish milky film? I think it may be because I have hard water and no surface movement. I do water changes in his tank once a week, so I don't know how bad it would get after that.

it's a nest of bubbles at the surface of the water that beta's commonly construct

What do they use it for?

breeding. the male betta constructs the nest to deposit the eggs into the bubbles. and then stands constant guard on the nest to repel intruders all the while, keeping the nest in tip top shape

Betta-Ming-

Not sure what the film is but it normally occurs from a lack of surface agitation. Try using a small airstone to keep the surface of the water moving. That should help prevent it.

The water is becoming stagnant, like mina bird said, you nead surface agitation.
