Hi, I used to have an aquarium with goldfish, but its been a long time and I just recently decided to start again, except I want something different...

I want an aquarium with lots of plants (bamboo is cool but i like all), maybe some land (if possible?), and no or very little fish (if any algae eaters). I want something different but easy to take care of and clean so I'm wondering what animals would be good for such an aquarium.

I've been looking at a bunch of different things such as snails, crabs/crawfish/shrimp, amphibians (suggest more please). So how hard is it to take care of these animals and which ones would be good for me?

Sorry if this is confusing, I'm new to this and not sure what I want exactly...

Thanks! :)

Hopefully I'll be posting more once I know what I'm doing...

I have had aquariums as well as the vivarium/viquarium setup you are describing, a pure aquarium is much less work.

I figured it would be more work, but after thinking about it, I'm willing to put the time into it...

I've been looking at paludarium type stuff and am thinking about making one... I read somewhere about a bog/swamp paludarium. Anyone know anything about that?

Im not too familiar with reptiles at all either, but what you are talking about sounds like a firebelly frog or newt might work?? Welcome to AC

Get a pac man frog. Best investment EVER. Or a water monitor. but they get like 8 feet. My neighbor is working on fattening him up.
